The Chequers Inn in Ettington, just outside Stratford-Upon-Avon, have opened further to an extensive renovation. The 18th century pub, which is featured in the Good Pub Guide, has undergone an extensive facelift which has seen an extension to its kitchen and a new fresh and modern interior throughout the bar and 38-cover restaurant.
Committed to using only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients, proprietors Paul and Aman Bhandal have developed a new menu bursting with simple, rustic dishes. Taking in pub classics with a twist, such as handmade burgers and Pork and Chorizo Scotch Eggs, the menu features further refined dishes such as Pan-fried Seabass with Wild Rice, Black Olives and a Cherry Tomato Compote. The menu also includes a range of ever-changing sharing platters and seasonal specials.
The new offering nods to Asian influences, with dishes such as Masala Chickpea Chaat with Toasted Pitta Bread and Chicken Curry. Sunday lunch takes in classics like Roast Rump of Beef and Roast Chicken and Onion and Sage Stuffing with Roast Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables and Yorkshire Puddings.
A vast wine and beer list, which includes the Chequers own pale ale, and a cocktail list boasting a plethora of classic drinks, from Kir Royale’s and Aperol Spritz’s to Caipirinhas and Negronis, completes the offer.
The re-launch has created several new roles, and The Chequers has welcomed new bar and waiting staff, and are about to appoint a new Chef De Partie to work alongside their head chef.
Proprietors Paul and Aman Bhandal said:
“We are extremely excited to welcome customers back to the Chequers Inn. We hoped to give the pub a new lease of life, but were very aware of not losing the charm which made The Chequers Inn the warm, welcoming place it was before. We hope to provide the full experience for customers – great service, great food and a great atmosphere – and hope that they enjoy the new décor and menu as much as we did creating it “
