New year, new you, new bedroom?
Many of us want a change in scenery when we begin the new year, with grand ambitions to overhaul the whole house or finally bring our interior designer ideas to life. However, January is also known as a penny-pinching month thanks to the splurge of Christmas and those extra treats we indulge in to stave off the depressing winter blues, which might not leave us a lot of money left to start playing magic makeover with our house.
Our bedrooms are often a room we go to relax and unwind in before sleep, which is why it is usually a great room to start. This piece will discuss how you can spruce up your bedroom on a low budget and create it into a haven you dream of.
Invest in New Bedding
Bedding is a key focal point of the bedroom, which means that changing it up is one of the fastest ways to create a new look. You can mix it up by either choosing different patterns, colours or textures, and do not forget to include bedroom accessories either! Items such as scatter pillows or blanket throws can also completely change a look while giving you some added comfort, too!
Change Your Furniture Layout
Go with that strange urge that people get at 2am to rearrange the bedroom, and think about how swapping your furniture around will work for you, and if it will create a look you like.
If you are not someone who visualises, then why not try out your furniture in new places to see how you feel? You can always move it back if it is a layout that you are not keen on.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall
Using mirrors to create a new bright look in a room is a common trick of the trade.
If you line up your mirror across the room in front of a window, this can help reflect the natural light across the rest of your room. If you have particularly light surfaces, too – such as white walls, white furniture or white curtains, the natural light will have a much easier time bouncing off these and creating a bright space.
Take Care of the Small Details
You do not have to go big or go home when it comes to mixing up your room. Even some simple finishing touches or little additions to the room can change its appearance or vibe, which could be all that you need! This could include ornaments, photographs, paintings or houseplants for bedrooms, for example. They all offer a great pop of colour, some character and can be swapped out easily for other items at any point – unlike a paint colour change!
Choose A Rug
Carpet is notoriously expensive to replace, and if it does not need it, you are better off buying a rug! This can easily help you switch up the look of your room without having to endure the cost of a carpet refit, and you can change it any time!
