Dorset eCommerce agency JD Ecommerce has scooped Food & Drink Ecommerce Website of the Year Award at the prestigious UK eCommerce Awards for the impressive website they designed for Wood St Coffee Roasters.
The team, based at Lansdowne in Bournemouth and in Ukraine, created the woodstcoffee.co.uk webstore for the speciality coffee roaster, which went live in November last year.
JD Ecommerce, led by MD Jamie Derrick, were tasked with creating a new user-friendly website which would help Wood St Coffee Roasters develop the direct-to-consumer side of its business by delivering more conversions, subscriptions, better retention and a vastly improved customer experience. They also migrated the business from its previous website over to the Shopify platform – successfully moving thousands of customers and orders in the process.
The new website is delivering impressive results for the coffee client; they almost doubled their subscriber base and saw a remarkable 43% revenue growth for non-subscription sales in the eight months after it went live, compared to the same period the previous year.
And the UK eCommerce Awards judges were clearly impressed too; they described the website as “really impressive” in particular praising the “innovative use of QR codes”. They also commented that the website is “achieving great results and hitting all targets set.”
Jamie Derrick, Managing Director of JD Ecommerce, said:
“We are over the moon to have won this award, especially given the really strong submissions from the other nine finalists in this category.
“We poured so much into this – analysing the pluses and minuses of the old website, understanding the client’s marketplace and getting to know this brilliant brand from inside out. From there we meticulously designed a clean and user-friendly interface, which not only achieves its objectives but also showcases the strength and appeal of this fantastic brand.
“I am so proud of what we’ve created, and the impact it’s had for our clients – especially as I’m personally such a big fan of speciality coffee! So we were very much coming from the perspective of what an end consumer (ie me!) would want and experience from a website. It just goes to prove that getting into the mind of the end consumer is vitally important in building a successful eCommerce site.
“Our site stands tall despite its modest size, yielding remarkable results, with numbers that speak for themselves.”
The innovative website features Brew Guides with professional videos to help customers get the perfect cup at home, an ingenious interactive coffee picker to help them choose the right coffee for them, and a ‘subscription builder’ tool. QR codes on the coffee packaging connect customers directly to information pages for each coffee – a unique feature adding to the overall product experience.
Gareth Reid, co-owner of Wood St Coffee Roasters, said:
“We’re so proud of our coffee and our brand, and this new site makes it effortless for customers to see who we are, to navigate our range, choose the products and services which are just right for them. ”
“I love what Jamie and his team have done for us with our website, but more importantly our customers love it – and they’re showing us how much through increased orders and subscriptions and increased loyalty.
“To see the website win this prestigious award is testament to the fantastic job Jamie has done for us.”
