- With 11 hotels and five restaurants in Valencia’s most strategic spots, STAYINGVALENCIA is committed to and fosters sustainable tourism, implementing ongoing improvements that have raised the company’s profile, making it a benchmark in Spain.
- The group is the first hotel chain in Spain to be awarded the “S” certificate for sustainable tourism by the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality.
Generating sustainable tourism that reduces its impact on the environment is a challenge for the hotel sector. It’s a challenge and an undisputed need that the STAYINGVALENCIA group has advocated since it was founded more than 20 years ago.
The hotel chain – comprising 11 tourist accommodations and five restaurants throughout Valencia – is committed to making tourism more sustainable, ecological and higher quality, respecting both people and the environment. This proposal makes tourism proactively generate a positive impact on our surroundings.
In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, STAYINGVALENCIA has become a benchmark in Spain and abroad, being the first hotel brand in Spain to receive the official “S” certificate for sustainable tourism, awarded by the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality.
In the past year, the following Agenda 2030 goals have been implemented:
- Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all (SDG 6): by installing water-saving equipment, more efficient taps and diffusers during the remodelling, introducing energy-saving and water-saving systems, achieving better efficiency by installing aerothermal equipment, water treatment and improving water circuits.
- Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all (SDG 7): by installing more efficient air conditioning systems, electric bike chargers, and better-insulated windows, among other measures.
- Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all (SDG 8): by introducing new digital tools that promote collaborative online work and improve workers’ performance, monitoring solar panels’ electricity consumption online, reaching agreements with local companies to offer outsourced services to clients and improve their experience, providing training for employees and Team Building days, renovating spaces to increase guest comfort, increasing wages, to highlight a few examples.
- Reduce inequalities (SDG 10): by offering special agreements and rates with entities and organisations, donating to NGOs, and drafting an Equality Plan.
- Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns (SDG 12): by making full use of produce to minimise food waste, promoting electric vehicle use, reducing single-use plastic waste, installing more water fountains, and reducing paper consumption.
By innovating and introducing improvements in line with new needs, STAYINGVALENCIA endeavours to work on this core issue, offering maximum quality and guaranteeing responsible, sustainable tourism with long-term benefits for the local community and the environment.
