London’s favourite Chinese ‘grab & go’ outlet Mama Li is doubling its branches in the capital with the grand launch of a new eatery this month.
The City’s second Mama Li at 49 London Wall, Moorgate, opens on Wednesday 24th April with an offer of 50% off all food until Tuesday April 30th.
Mama Li, which is renowned for its mouth-watering Cantonese roast meat dishes and its signature rice & meat combos prepared using Mama Li’s own recipes, will open Monday to Friday, to cater for the city’s workers.
The new branch, which will celebrate its grand opening with traditional Chinese Lion Dancers, will primarily operate as a ‘grab and go’ outlet but will also offer dine in and delivery options.
The business was conceived by Catherine Hua, Mama Li’s daughter, amidst the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. Mama Li was born out of a desire to share her mother’s cherished recipes with London.
The story of Mama Li is more than just a culinary tale; it’s a poignant narrative of resilience, sacrifice, and familial love.
Inspired by her mother’s dedication and the sacrifices, Catherine embarked on a mission to honour her legacy through the language of food.
Initially operating as a ‘dark kitchen’ in Shoreditch, Mama Li’s meals were a hit with diners on online takeaway delivery platforms. This success enabled Catherine to open the first branch of Mama Li at Tower Hill.
The success of the Tower Hill operation has been a catalyst for Catherine to expand the business – with plans to open more Mama Li branches across London.
Catherine said: “Since opening our first branch at Tower Hill, Mama Li has been embraced by the community with overwhelming enthusiasm.
“The success of our Tower Hill location has propelled us to expand our culinary offering across London.
“Our recipes, especially our renowned roast meats, are authentic Mama Li creations, meticulously crafted with the finest ingredients and all prepared in-house using time-honoured roasting methods.
“Every meal evokes the warmth and familiarity of home, reminiscent of our cherished childhood kitchen. It’s my heartfelt aspiration that our dishes can offer the same comforting feel of a home-cooked meal.”
