One of the UK’s leading plant-based cheezes is celebrating awards’ success after it won the Gold Award in the Best New Product category at the Vegan Food and Living Awards for its snacking cheeze.
Applewood Vegan, the plant-based version of the UK’s number one smoky cheese, won the award for Applewood Vegan Bites, which relaunched earlier this year in a stick format to make it easier for snack lovers to enjoy on the go. And Applewood Vegan Block cheeze won Silver in the Best Vegan Cheeze category.
Applewood was the first cheese brand to make a plant-based version when it launched Applewood Vegan into Asda stores across the country in 2019. Five years on, the plant-based cheeze has gone on to win 17 awards and is celebrated for being “much more like real cheese”.
Commenting on the awards success, Ffion Davies, Senior Brand Manager for Applewood Vegan, said: “We are pleased that the judges at Vegan Food and Living have been impressed by our new snacking format, and for our Applewood Vegan Block still winning accolades five years after it launched.
“The brand has just gone from strength to strength since 2019 and has proved popular with vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians. Also, with 8%** of the UK’s population being lactose intolerant, we are pleased that we can provide a really reliable plant-based alternative to dairy cheeses.”
Applewood Vegan Block is available to buy in block and slices format in Asda, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Waitrose, Ocado and Morrisons. Applewood Vegan Bites are available to buy at Morrisons and Asda stores.
