- Cutting-edge RGBW system revealed ahead of 15th anniversary
- Launch coincides with Eid Al Etihad celebrations
The Burj Khalifa has undergone a transformative lighting overhaul, according to an announcement from Emaar Properties. The innovative RGBW lighting system combines advanced technology with the tower’s striking design, debuting on 1 December 2024 as part of the UAE’s Eid Al Etihad celebrations. This marks the beginning of festivities leading up to the building’s 15th anniversary on 4 January 2025.
The upgrade redefines the façade’s appearance with a spectrum of vibrant colours and dynamic lighting effects, offering an enhanced experience to visitors and solidifying Dubai’s position as a centre for creative innovation and design.
Following six months of rigorous mock-up testing, the upgrade replaces static lighting with addressable RGBW fixtures. These innovative elements deliver stunning visuals ranging from daily displays to extravagant festive illuminations, integrating seamlessly with the Burj Khalifa’s media façade and maintaining its timeless architectural elegance.
Mr Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Executive Director, Emaar Properties, remarked: “Burj Khalifa has always stood as a beacon of what is possible when vision meets innovation. This lighting overhaul is a testament to our continuous pursuit of excellence and a tribute to the UAE’s spirit of progress. As we unveil this stunning upgrade during Eid Al Etihad celebrations and approach the tower’s 15th anniversary, this transformation marks a new chapter in its legacy, reaffirming Dubai as a city of boundless ambition.”
This innovative lighting system enhances Burj Khalifa’s status as a global icon and sets new standards for combining technology and design. The project’s excellence will inspire future architectural lighting advancements across the world.
