With immigration debates, racial tensions, and concerns over biased policing at the forefront of global discussions, Matt Luca Waterman has released his latest single, “Stop Racism.” This stirring track is a call for unity, urging listeners to see beyond race and religion and come together as a single human race.
The cover image for “Stop Racism” is as thought-provoking as the song itself, featuring a human figure without skin, representing that beneath our exterior differences, we are all the same. This bold visual underlines the message of the song, emphasising that race is only skin deep.
Matt’s connection to diverse cultures, including his marriage to Gail, a woman of colour, has provided him with a unique insight into the harmful effects of racism. His new song expresses his frustration with the continued presence of prejudice in today’s world. “It’s time we stop judging people by the colour of their skin or their religious beliefs,” says Matt. “Racism is not just harmful; it’s absurd. Where do you draw the line between what’s white and what’s tan, what’s tan and what’s brown, what’s brown and what’s black? None of it should matter, because we’re all just different shades of the same colour. Melanin may give us our skin tone, but underneath, we are all human.”
In “Stop Racism,” Matt addresses the need to bring an end to discriminatory practices, particularly in how authorities treat people of different races. “We live in a time where the way people are treated by law enforcement can depend on the colour of their skin, where immigration debates are often steeped in racial bias. This has to stop,” he states. “My wife has faced racism her entire life, and it still happens today. Even my boys have experienced racism while playing football. This song is for them, for her and for everyone who’s ever been judged unfairly because of their skin tone or religion.”
The track also highlights that race is a social construct and that we should no longer allow it to divide us. “From the darkest brown to the lightest ivory, we’re all part of the same human family,” Matt emphasises. “It’s time to move past these superficial differences and see each other for who we truly are – humans.”
“Stop Racism” can be streamed on all major platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music Unlimited, Deezer, YouTube Music, SoundCloud, and Audiomack. This song serves not only as music but as a call for everyone to stand up against racism and work towards a future of equality and love.
