Admiral Tavern, well known for being the leading community pub operator in the UK has announced that the Firbank Pub and Kitchen which is located in Wythenshawe has managed to reach the national finals of the Great British Pub Awards. The Firbank managed to claim the Best Community Pub in 2016 as a part of the prestigious awards, and has again managed to reach the final rounds.
As a part of the shortlisting the Firbank Pub and Kitchen has joined only six other bubs in the UK in order to fight for the Best Community Pub Award. The Firbank is run by the husband and wife duo Simon and Rachel Delaney. The Pub has been getting more and more successful as the couple have been working in order to make the Firbank a central part of the community.
This year, the Firbank team has been working in order to bring the local community even closer together. Their extensive work has lead to the pub and kitchen being selected for the Best Community Pub Award for the second year. The Firbank has been working to develop, with an expanded offering of premium drinks as well as home cooked food and keeping up their busy calendar of events in the community such as theme nights, DJ events and comedy nights. The Firbank also has a partnership with Age Friendly Manchester. The partnership is one of the first of its kind and led to the Age Friendly Wythenshawe, ensuring that the quality of life for older people in the area is kept to a good standard. The Firbank Pub and Kitchen was also involved in Manchester Pride 2017, taking part in the Magic themed parade.
The shortlist announcement reflects the hard work put in by the team at the Firbank, made even more impressive by this being the second year for their shortlist. Hopefully the Kitchen will be able to go even further in this years competition.
