The British Poultry Awards are set to take place in September and is an awards system that has replaced the well respected and well known British Turkey Awards. This previous awards program was held for more than 20 years with the Chief Executive of British Poultry, Richard Griffiths suggesting that the new award system will attract more high specification products that are on offer in a range of smaller independent producers as well as larger brands. The shortlist at the moment has 60 products of high quality that will be narrowed down in future stages.
As part of the British Poultry Awards, an independent panel of judges featuring experts from the food industry will convene in July in order to taste the entries and come up with the top three entrants from each of the nine categories. The categories include the Best Ready to Eat Product, the Best Turkey Product, Best Speciality Poultry Product, Best Fresh Duck Product, Best Chicken Product and Best Seasonal Product to name a few. The entries will be marked and compared to a set criteria such as taste, appearance, quality, packaging and the best use of protein in consideration for the target market.
The 2017 British Poultry Awards has been created to offer a special opportunity to small medium and large poultry producers in order to gain recognition for their hard work and commitment to produce the best quality produce in the industry.
The British Poultry Awards are expected to take place at the Sheraton Grand Park Lane Hotel on Thursday the 14th of September this year.
