On Saturday 20th May, in order to celebrate World Whiskey Day, an award winning Single Malt Whisky from the Loch Lomond area has announced that they will be taking over one of the most iconic summits in Scotland.
The World Whisky Day take over by the Loch Lomond Group will be started by a team from the local distillery, who are planning to take in the dawn at the summit of Ben Lomond. In order to celebrate World Whiskey Day this year, the Group will be offering a free dram to anyone that reaches the summit of Scotland’s most popular mountain that day.
Of course these events are all dependent on the Scottish weather that weekend, but anyone who manages to climb to the summit at 974 meters on the 20th May will be given a card that gets stamped at the top of the mountain. On their return back down to the summit the card can then be exchanged for a free miniature bottle of award winning 12-year old Loch Lomond Malt Whiskey as a celebration of World Whiskey Day, as well as to celebrate them making it to the top of Scotland’s most southerly Munro, or mountain over 3,000 feet.
Ben Lomond is one of the most popular mountains in Scotland and sees more than 30,000 walkers every year. The mountain is also the nearest to the Loch Lomond Group distillery, which is located in Alexandria, which is near Balloch. Ben Lomond over looks the same Loch Lomond that has been used as inspiration to create the award winning whiskey that will be offered there on the 20th May.
The view from the summit of Ben Lomond reaches snowy Ben Nevis on a clear day, as well as offering spectacular view of the Scottish Highlands, and the islands to the west of the Mountain. As a further enticement, those that reach the summit and get their card stamped will also be entered in to a draw with the opportunity to win a bottle of 18-year-old Loch Lomond and an 18-year-old Inchmurrin, named after the largest island on Loch Lomond.
