TIME reveals the 2019 TIME 100, its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. The issue has six worldwide covers, each highlighting a member of the TIME 100:Nancy Pelosi, Taylor Swift, Dwayne Johnson, Sandra Oh, Gayle King and Mohamed Salah.
The TIME 100 features often-surprising pairings of the list members and the guest contributors TIME selects to write about them. The sixteenth annual list includes: Celine Dion on Lady Gaga, Hillary Rodham Clinton on Nancy Pelosi, Leonardo DiCaprio on Jane Goodall, Michael R. Bloomberg on Bob Iger, Chris Christie on Donald Trump, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter on Michelle Obama, Octavia Spencer on Mahershala Ali, Kamala Harris on Christine Blasey Ford, Sadiq Khan on Jacinda Ardern, Rod Rosenstein on William Barr, Eric Ripert on Chrissy Teigen and more.
Of the 2019 TIME 100 list, TIME Editor-in-Chief Edward Felsenthal writes, “We all have teachers, some we know intimately, others who inspire from the page or the screen. This holds true even for the most accomplished people on earth. Our annual TIME 100 issue is filled with tributes from teachers to students; in many cases, the surprise is who is playing which role today.”
Felsenthal continues, “In many ways, these connections—forged across and among industries—are the heart of the TIME 100, which now, in its 16th year, is far more than a list. It is a community of hundreds of global leaders, many of whom support and challenge one another. And at a time when so many of our problems require cross-disciplinary solutions, they are also uniquely positioned to effect change.”
