2025 BetMGM Premier League – Night Eight preview
Local hero Chris Dobey is set to take centre stage as the Premier League Darts roadshow rolls into the North East for what promises to be a thrilling night at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena.
The Bedlington-born star will be riding the wave of excitement still sweeping the city, after his beloved Newcastle United ended a 70-year wait for domestic silverware earlier this month. The Magpies edged out league leaders Liverpool 2-1 in an unforgettable Carabao Cup final, and Dobey was there at Wembley to witness history.
Now, the 2023 Masters Champion is hoping to channel that same winning energy when he faces off against world number one Luke Humphries in his quarter-final clash.
Humphries has come out on top in both of their meetings so far this season, but has stumbled at the quarter-final stage in his last three appearances — falling to Rob Cross, Luke Littler, and Michael van Gerwen.
Dobey, on the other hand, snapped a six-match losing streak with a much-needed win over Stephen Bunting in Cardiff and is relishing the chance to put on a show in front of a passionate home crowd on Thursday night.
