To ensure you stay on trend when navigating transitional styling, Assistant Press Manager at men’s clothing and footwear brand Fairfax & Favor, Charlie Cooke, has put together some insights on what the best men’s footwear trends for SS24 are, take a look:
Cowboy
The cowboy trend has seen huge popularity amongst women’s fashion, being led by the release of Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter album, but this trend is now making its way into menswear trends. Suede boots in tan make the perfect addition to your collection to really capture the cowboy essence, go for full cowboy boots if you want to fully embrace the trend or classic Chelsea boots to adapt your look for more contemporary styling.
Utility
Utility wear has been across several runways showcasing SS24 collections, with footwear choices leaning into this trend. Utility wear personifies efficiency alongside structure to create perfect pieces for comfortable wear. Combat boots are having a resurgence currently, perfectly suiting the utility trend. Desert boots are also a great choice to suit your structured utility clothing.
Relaxed tailoring
Suits have taken a more relaxed approach in recent months, as we are seeing more nods back to the relaxed styles popular in the 1990s. Think wide-leg trousers and oversized suit jackets. On the footwear front loafers are popular for the warmer seasons, balancing form and function as they serve the right aesthetic for formal affairs in outdoor settings. Polished Oxford shoes are also popular for 2024, making the perfect suit shoes for weddings.
Futuristic
There has been an increase in future technologies being brought into the manufacturing and construction of garments, this has led to a rise in futuristic fashion influencing our wardrobes this spring and summer. Textile innovations and integration of technology into clothing is becoming the norm and 3D printed footwear is gaining interest amongst trendsetters. Technical trainers which go above and beyond to serve practical wear for posture, performance and the elements will become more popular in 2024.
Y2K
The Y2K revival has seen men’s fashion revert back to baggy denim, classic caps and polo shirts and SS24 will continue to see this trend thrive with men’s footwear choices. Whether leaning back into leather ankle boots to reference the noughties indie music reign or opting for more sturdy worker boots seen paired with urban outfits, this decade continues to be a source of inspiration for the current season.
