Studio Atkinson is delighted to announce new AW23 product launches, including Noughts & Crosses – a new oak furniture collection entirely handmade in the UK, hand-painted lampshades designed in collaboration with Spanish designer and craftsman Alvaro Picardo, and ceramics from Ceramicas Do Moinho from Portugal. Studio Atkinson also announces the expansion of its ‘Buffed Up’ Lacquer Collection with two new launches: Two Tone Lacquer Side Tables and Buffed Up Coffee Tables.
NOUGHTS & CROSSES
Developed over two years, Studio Atkinson’s new Noughts & Crosses collection was inspired by an antique bamboo dining table sourced by Susie at a French market many years ago. It featured a cotton reel round base and contrasting crossed feet, a play on direction and contrast which the new collection mimics through fluting as well as differentiation of the wood grain direction. Noughts & Crosses consists of a round coffee table, side table, console table and dining table, each inspired by the contrasting shapes of the original French table design.
With a passion for fine craftsmanship that underlies all Studio Atkinson collections, Noughts & Crosses is expertly crafted from oak and made by hand in the UK with the exceptional detail that is characteristic of a Studio Atkinson design. The bleached wood finish is simple yet beautiful, emphasising the natural grain of the wood for a textured appearance that is natural and pared-back, while the crossed feet of the table and contrasting elements of the design add a playfulness to the collection.
The collection also introduces the Cane Lamps, inspired by a lamp that Susie sourced in Lille. Made from wood and square cane, the lamps are available in two different sizes and can be made in any colour.

NERIKOMI CERAMICS
Made using the Japanese technique of Nerikomi, which involves stacking multiple colours of clay to create captivating and vibrant patterns, Cermicas do Moinho’s pieces are decorative statement pieces with an organic and artisanal feel. Handmade in Carvalhan in the Comporta region of Portugal, each piece is moulded by hand for a distinct finish that ensures no two pieces are exactly the same.
ALVARO LAMPS
Made in collaboration with Spanish designer and craftsman Alvaro Picardo, Studio Atkinson’s collection of hand-painted lampshades feature vibrant, graphic designs inspired by elements of Studio Atkinson’s iconic wallpaper borders. Each lampshade is meticulously hand painted by Alvaro for a detailed finish and a unique touch, and designed to pair perfectly with the studio’s Plato Lamp Base collection, which will launch in an expanded selection of colours to complement the colours and patterns of the new Alvaro lampshades.

TWO TONE LACQUER TABLES AND BUFFED UP COFFEE TABLE
An expansion of the studio’s much loved ‘Buffed Up’ Lacquer collection of side tables, Studio Atkinson introduces Two Tone Lacquer Side Tables and ‘Buffed Up’ Coffee Tables. Always finding inspiration from unlikely places, the Two Tone Lacquer tables are inspired by the rich colours and stripes found in a packet of liquorice allsorts that were passed around the studio. The clean finish of the two-tone lacquer requires extreme precision to prevent the colours from bleeding, resulting in bold colour combinations with a tactile glossy finish.
Sleek and understated, the new Buffed Up Coffee Tables work fantastically in modern as well as traditional interiors, livening up a space by introducing a pop of colour. The tables were designed for Studio Atkinson’s own projects where form and simplicity were key.
Two Tone Lacquer Side Tables
Susie Atkinson says: “I’m very excited to announce our new launches and to finally be able to share the designs we’ve been working on, particularly our new Noughts & Crosses collection which has been two years in the making. I loved the contrasting shapes and texture of the antique design that I found in France and I wanted to create a collection that was playful yet refined.
“Equally exciting are our new accessory collaborations, first with Ceramicas Do Moinho on our beautiful Portuguese Ceramics, and with Alvaro Picardo on the new range of hand-painted lampshades. I love the vibrant designs of Picardo’s lampshades, and they pair perfectly with our new Plato Lamp Base colours to liven up any corner to make a statement in any interior.”
