Bittles Bar, one of Belfast’s most unique pubs, has launched its highly anticipated first Christmas advert for 2024, starring the bar’s iconic landlord, John Bittles.
The advert, created by Emerald Green Media for Ireland Before You Die, premiered on YouTube at 8 PM on Monday, 25th November.
Named Bittles Bar Christmas Advert 2024, the short film captures the charm of the pub and its famously no-nonsense owner. John Bittles, known for his candid hospitality style, has gained fame for policies such as declining soft drink orders and maintaining strict patron standards. The advert playfully celebrates these traits, positioning Bittles Bar as a Belfast gem.

The advert marks Emerald Green Media’s first foray into video advertising and features Haughey’s 87-year-old uncle in his acting debut. Directed by Ronan Lavery, a lifelong friend of Haughey, the project is also Lavery’s first paid directorial venture.
Filmed around Belfast and within the cosy interiors of Bittles Bar, the advert combines stunning visuals with John’s trademark wit, creating a festive and unforgettable campaign.
The advert is now live and can be viewed on Ireland Before You Die’s YouTube channel.
