The family-run boutique hotel Dunstane House in Edinburgh has joined Pride of Britain Hotels’ luxury collection of independently-owned UK hotels. Dunstane House is a refined and contemporary-in-style five-star hotel inside a Victorian town house that dates back to 1865.
“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Dunstane House to Pride of Britain Hotels. This is our fifth Scottish member in the collection, and our first member hotel in the wonderful city of Edinburgh,” said Peter Hancock, Chief Executive, Pride of Britain Hotels.
Located in Edinburgh’s West End, just 10 minutes’ walk from the city centre and a 20 minute stroll to the castle, the hotel boasts 16 newly refurbished bedrooms that feature handmade Vispring beds with Egyptian cotton bedlinen, velvet Chesterfield sofas, Persian rugs, original Scottish artwork, Nespresso coffee machines, Roberts radios, flat-screen TVs, Noble Isle products and high-speed Wi-Fi.
Moreover, the hotel includes four suites, named Orkney Suites – a reference to the owners’ family roots – that boast four-poster beds, decadent freestanding copper roll-top baths or wonderful views across the city. It also offers the benefit of free parking on site for its guests.
Guests can enjoy a relaxed all-day Scottish dining from 12 noon until 9.30pm in the newly-opened Ba’ Bar & Lounge. It specialises in fresh, seasonal Scottish produce sourced from small local suppliers. Some of the dishes included on the menu are: Crispy Campbells haggis bonbons with Glenkinchie single malt whisky and Arran mustard mayo; The Dunstane Burger topped with mature Orkney cheddar or Scottish Blue Murder cheese and Warm chocolate and frangipane tart with clotted cream.
Afternoon tea is served daily from 12 noon to 5pm, along with Hendrick’s Gin or Joseph Perrier Champagne options. The Ba’ Bar has an extensive list of fine wines, premium craft spirits and beers. The vintage whisky cabinet features over seventy varieties, including some rare single malts and blends. Whisky and cheese tastings, martini masterclasses and cocktail making classes are also available.
An overnight stay at Dunstane House in a Luxury Wee Double Room costs from £174 per room/£87 pp, with two sharing, and including full Scottish breakfast. The Orkney Suites are priced from £395 per room (two sharing).
