The Chinese Food Festival is returning again this year. On the 8th, 9th and 10th of September the only festival solely focused on celebrating Chinese food in the UK will be held at Potters Fields Park. The Festival will be in its third year this year, and the event that is being held at the foot of Tower Bridge will cover three different areas in order to celebrate a wider selection of Chinese food.
At the Chinese Food Festival there will be a Food Fair that will consist of more than 20 different stalls that will offer authentic and traditional Chinese dishes such as Sheng Jian Bao, Chongqing Noodles and Taiwanese Fried Chicken. The food festival will also contain a Cooking Masterclass from Lee Kum Kee. These classes will be free and run by the School of Wok’s Jeremy Pang. During these cooking classes, attendees will learn how to cook Dumplings and Sichuan Chicken. The cooking classes are 45 minutes long and will take place on the Saturday and Sunday of the festival. The final aspect of the Chinese Food Festival is new this year. The Discover Journey is the opportunity to enjoy a 6-course meal that will take the guests on a journey through Chinese food that has been curated by Lillian Luk, from the Shanghai Supper Club and TongTong Ren and Peiran Gong of Chinese Laundry, a restaurant that is currently closed.
The Food Fair will be open from midday to 10pm from the 8th to the 10th of September. There are a number of confirmed participants including Kang Foo Noodles, Han Dian and Happy Lemon. It is thought that there will be more participants announced in the lead up to the festival. Lee Kum Kee 45 minute Masterclasses will be open to 20 people per session, with 2 people per workstation and 10 workstations per session. To attend the masterclasses advanced booking is required. For the Discovery Journey, advanced and pre-paid booking is required and the event will take place on the 9th of September. There will be one lunch sitting for the 6 course meal and 2 dinner sittings in order to accommodate as many people as possible at the event.
The festival will be free to and is thought to be suitable for people of all ages.
