The Clink has been awarded the Education & Training Award and the Overall Award for Excellence as part of Civil Society Media’s The Charity Awards. The innovative charity that works in order to rehabilitate prisoners by training them in hospitality has received these awards as an amazing recognition of all the hard work taking place at the charity.
The Clink Charity were given the prestigious awards at the Awards ceremony that took place on Thursday the 8th June at The Pavilion which is in the grounds of The Tower of London. Hosting the awards evening was Louise Minchin, the BBC Breakfast presenter. The Clink has been recognised with both the Education & Training Award as well as the highly desired Overall Award for Excellence for their innovative work to reduce the rate of reoffending for ex-offenders by allowing them to train for their NVQs in hospitality and cookery. A report has been put together by the Justice Data Lab and the Ministry of Justice which has sown that the charity is making a significant impact, with figures showing a 41% reduction in likelihood to reoffend form those involved in the scheme.
The Charity Awards have been put together in order to recognise and celebrate the work that is carried out by grass roots charities around Britain. The Clink managed to take the award in part down to the research mentioned above that was carried out by The Ministry of Justice and Justice Lab Data, as the research showed that the work carried out by The Clink Charity has made a statistically significant impact on the rate of reoffending.
The award winning charity was first launched in 2010 and has been recognised for their hard and exceptional work by figures throughout the hospitality industry as well as a number of philanthropic businesses and a number of socially conscious diners from around the world. The Clink has slowly been expanding to more prisons because of the support that it is receiving and hopefully soon all of Her Majesty’s Prison Estate will be able to access the exceptional work of the charity.
