A new Head Pastry Chef has been appointed to join the Lancaster London. The Hotel is an iconic fixture
of London that is situated overlooking Hyde Park. The new Head Pastry Chef for the Lancaster is Steve
Penny. As part of his new role, Steve will be working in the kitchens of the hotel and overseeing the
Pastry Department with already has an exceptional reputation. Within the Pastry Department at
Lancaster London, Steve Penny will be working as a team of six to ensure that the highest quality of
pastries is created and delivered to the hotel’s guests.
Steve and his team will be working in order to create all of the bread, pastry and dessert that are on
offer at the 411 bedroomed hotel. It is thought that Lancaster London has the capacity to cater to up to
3,000 guests at any point.
The Lancaster London Hotel is very well known for their ARTea Afternoon Tea, who will now be created
by Steven and his team in the Pastry Department. Therefore, he is stepping in to a really big role within
the kitchen at the Hotel. It is thought that Steve is planning on extending the success of the Pastry
Department further than the Afternoon Tea. Steve hopes to develop the other offerings available at the
Lancaster in a hope of making them as successful as the ARTea.
Steve Penny is originally from New Zealand although he has been living and working in the UK for
around 12 years. In his previous position, Steve worked at the Albion Café which is located within The
Boundary Hotel in Shoreditch. In this previous role, he was the Head Pastry Chef for nearly two years.
Before the Albion Café, Steve was working at Simpsons-in- the-Strand for around six years where he
moved through the ranks from Demi Chef de Parte to Junior Sous Chef.
