The Cult Classic: Espresso Martini
The Espresso Martini is a sophisticated cocktail that merges the bold tastes of your favourite coffee with the classic elegance of a martini. Embrace your inner Bond with a caffeinated twist. Expertly blending espresso, vodka, and liqueur, it offers a refined balance of sweet and bitter notes, a velvety texture, and a rich flavour profile. Top off your espresso martini with some roasted and cracked beans, or try something a little different with a dash of zesty citrus.
What You Need:
- 45 ml Vodka
- 30 ml Kahlúa or Similar Liqueur
- 30 ml Freshly Brewed Espresso (cooled)
- 15 ml Simple Syrup (Agave, Maple Syrup, Honey, or Sweet Orange Juice also work)
- Ice
Brew and set aside your espresso to cool. You can also chill it in the fridge for extra crispness. Add the ice to a cocktail shaker, and pour in the other ingredients. Shake everything together for about 20 seconds, then strain into a martini glass- ideally, there should be no ice chips. Garnish and serve!
Mocha Margarita
Looking for something that’s bound to become the life of the party? This reimagined take on the classic margarita brings seductive chocolate and coffee notes to the table with a vibrant tang of tequila and lime. Serve yours with a dusting of chocolate shavings or cocoa powder on the rim and a twist of lime to seal the deal and bring the party spirit.
What You Need:
- 45 ml Tequila
- 30 ml Kahlúa or Similar Liqueur
- 30 ml Chocolate Syrup or Chocolate Liqueur
- 30 ml Freshly Brewed Espresso (cooled)
- 15 ml Fresh Lime Juice
- Ice
Again, brew your espresso and chill or cool it. This is the perfect time to rim your best margarita glass with chocolate syrup and flakes or a mix of cocoa powder and sugar. Toss all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with the ice to keep it crisp and cool. Shake everything together for around 20 seconds, then pour everything into your glass and serve. You can choose to strain the ice chips or serve over ice if you prefer. It’s party time!
The White Russian
The White Russian is a creamy and indulgent cocktail that beautifully combines the rich flavours of coffee liqueur with the smoothness of vodka and cream. It’s a classic cocktail that’s simple to make and offers a delightful balance of sweetness and richness. This one is bound to become your new favourite.
What You Need:
- 45 ml Vodka
- 30 ml Kahlúa or Similar Liqueur
- 30 ml Cream or Half and Half Milk
- Ice
When we promised this scintillating cocktail was easy to make, we weren’t lying! It’s classically served on the rocks, so fill your glass with ice or ice chips to your taste. Combine the vodka and liqueur, and pour over the ice. Then gently pour the cream over the back of a spoon, so it floats gently on the surface of the cocktail instead of mixing. You can use a cocktail stirrer to give it a gentle swirl if you’re feeling fancy- but you’re sure to enjoy it either way.
Café Amaretto
Looking for a comforting cocktail rich in both warmth and sweet taste? Then Café Amaretto is perfect for you. Packed in nutty sweetness from the classic almond Amaretto liquor, and served with a hot coffee shot, it’s wrapped in whipped cream and delivers both luxury and a little bit of pep for your step.
What You Need:
- 45 ml Amaretto Liqueur
- 120 ml Hot and Freshly Brewed Coffee
- Whipped Cream (for topping)
Instead of a classic cocktail glass, this one is best served in your favourite mug. You might want to opt for sophisticated neutrals or an arty twist rather than your favourite Snoopy mug if you’re sharing this one with friends, however! Simply pour the Amaretto liqueur into your mug (even if it’s Snoopy, we won’t judge), stir in the brew, and top with a generous helping of whipped cream. Or two, if you’re feeling decadent.
In the mixological world, coffee and liquor unite to make a flavourful fusion unlike anything else. Allowing the depth and nuance of your favourite brews to shine, showcased by a range of luxurious spirits and liqueurs, they’re a delight for all the senses. From a tasty treat after a hard day, to the centrepiece of a gathering of friends, add these caffeinated cocktails to your repertoire today. It’s time to toast our favourite drink in style!
