Manchester based spirit company, O’Donnell Moonshine has reflected on the strides the business has made since making it’s TV debut on Dragons Den in January 2022 (Episode 8, Series 19).
The episode, which recently aired again last Friday, saw the Manchester based business’ Chief Executive Officer, Max Ruether, enter the Den and face business moguls Touker Suleyman, Sara Davies, Deborah Meaden, Peter Jones, Steven Bartlett.
While a deal couldn’t be done on that day, the Dragons saw huge potential in the brand and predicted strong sales and appetite for their products.
After the show, Max Ruether, said: “Whilst it was disappointing not to have received investment, it’s important to pick out the positives from my experience on The Den.
“The feedback was really encouraging and tells me that the brand and products are absolutely on the right track.
“It’s certainly not the last you’ll hear of O’Donnell Moonshine. For us it’s only the beginning.”
Over the last 18 months, this has proved to be the case for the spirit brand, with the business achieving significant increases in sales year on year while also doubling its UK based team.
With the business on track to achieve a profit against the initial investment in 2023, O’Donnell Moonshine is certainly gaining momentum and making a name for itself in the UK drinks market.
Max Ruether, Chief Executive Office at O’Donnell Moonshine, said: “Although the dragons ultimately decided not to invest in our business last year, our team has worked extremely hard since then to ensure we’ve continued to evolve without them.
“We have achieved our stated turnover growth and are now running towards the third consecutive year with profits outweighing the initial investments, which is testament to the exciting nature and expanding popularity of our products.
“It’s great to see that people all over the country agree with the way Peter jones put it during the show, that’s it’s a serious product that will blow your away!”.
BRAND BACK STORY
Founded in 2016, O’Donnell Moonshine is a spirit brand which is carving its own, unique path in the UK alcohol industry producing a variety of handmade, flavoured Moonshine.
Inspired by the rebellion and inventiveness of the American prohibition era, where illegal alcohol was produced overnight by moonlight to avoid detection, O’Donnell Moonshine is rebelling against industry norms with a range of natural, wheat-based spirits.
O’Donnell Moonshine isn’t bottled, instead, it’s sold on the shelf in Mason jars, giving it a unique identity.
With flavours including Tough Nut, Very Cherry, Sticky Toffee, and 72% ABV High Proof their versatile range of tastes have something to suit everyone and can be enjoyed over ice, with a mixer, or used in a variety of cocktails.
Aside from its premium core flavours, O’Donnell offers a variety of gift sets and seasonal product, including the festive advent calendar, which is available to pre-order now.
The brand is named after legendary anti-hero Chicago bootlegger Edward ‘Spike’ O’Donnell – one of the few bootleggers during the roaring twenties who cared deeply about the quality of his product.
O’Donnell Moonshine spirits use only natural ingredients and are completely allergen free and vegan, while the glassware is free of plastics and is reusable around the home.
