Larry Pender has recently been appointed as the new Head Chef at the Kings’ Head. Larry is a classically trained chef and has experience working to 3 AA Rosettes and has also been in charge of more than 20 chefs while in other job roles. Following this new appointment of Head Chef Larry Pender, the menu has experienced a significant change.
The Kings’ Head now focuses on delivering a menu that focuses in all things local, seasonal and sustainable for their guests and diners to enjoy. The restaurant has recently achieved 3 Stars from the Sustainable Restaurant Association. This award is prestigious as it is the highest award to be granted by the Association. The Kings’ Head have the extra accolade that they are the only restaurant in Hampshire to hold this award.
The Kings’ Head is in Hursley, Winchester and has won a large number of awards for their service, accommodation and restaurant. The establishment has been a Finalist for the BII Licensee of the Year award in 2017 and has been voted the Best Pub in Hampshire for two years running, in 2016 and 2017 by Pub and Bar Magazine. The restaurant has also been awarded a AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence and the Kings’ Head is also an AA 4 Silver Star Inn.
Hursley has a rich and diverse heritage that has connections to Oliver Cromwell and the creation of the Spitfire. The Kings’ Head offers 8 bedrooms, as well as a restaurant that delivers freshly cooked meals from locally sourced produce. A unique feature of the Hursley site is a Skittles alley, offering something traditional and unique to those visiting or holding a function.
Other accolades awarded to the business include the Eat Out Magazine Team of the Year 2015/ 2016, the Casual Dining Restaurant and Pub Awards Social Responsibility award in 2016. Lux has given the Kings’ Head their Hospitality Award for the Most Delightful Country Bar and Restaurant and the Excellence Award for Friendly Accommodation, both of which were awarded in 2016.
