Morrison’s have released a new pizza which they claim is the spiciest to have ever been sold in a U.K supermarket. The Halloween specialty is aptly branded “hotter than hell.”
The ingredients used are so spicy that Morrison’s pizza counter staff have been given strict instructions for preparation of the pizza which include wearing safety goggles, latex gloves and special aprons.
The special ingredient that makes the pizza so unbelievably spicy is the British grown “Naga Chilli” which is credited as being one of the hottest chilli peppers in the world and is over 200 times spicier than Tabasco sauce.
To further add to the intensity of the spice (as if the Naga Chilli wasn’t enough) the pizza also features toppings spicy pulled steak, spicy chicken, Jalapeño pepperoni, a chilli cheese crumb, jalapeños, and a sprinkling of crushed chillies. Combine all this with the Naga Chilli and you’ve got one spicy pizza.
Morrison’s had this to say on the red hot pizza “Those who take on the challenge can first expect the tongue to go numb and talking will become difficult.
“Then a burning sensation will start in the mouth and continue down the throat, whilst the eyes and nose will start to run. Most people will become hot and sweaty. The sensation will last for 15 minutes – after which some people may feel euphoric as hot chillies are known to generate an endorphin rush.”
Clearly this is one challenge not for the faint of heart and Morrison’s clearly agree with this, the supermarket have put out a recommendation than nobody under the age of 16 take on the challenge of eating the pizza.
Sabina Qureshi, pizza buyer at Morrison’s said “Chilli fans have been telling us they don’t get the extreme heat they’re after when eating regular pizzas, so we thought we’d make something for Halloween with more of a kick.
“We’ve worked with our British chilli grower to grow these extreme heat chillies, and our pizza counter staff are now on standby in their protective gear to make the pizzas up.”
If you’re keen to take on the challenge mark your diary, the pizza will be available for a limited time from 28 – 31 October, retailing at £2.60 for one or two for £4.
