The Bedfordshire Food and Drink Awards have just named Clophill’s Green Man as Bedfordshire’s Best Fine Dining Restaurant 2016.
The restaurant is celebrated for its high-end Italian dining, and the award was won in recognition of its food and drink, as well as its atmosphere and ambience.
It has recently been put on the market with specialist business property adviser Christie & Co, for £699950, and the pub-restaurant, which occupies a grade II listed detatched building in the village, is hoped to continue is culinary success after the sale.
It is currently placed 17th out of 333 restaurants in Bedford on TripAdvisor and has a rating of 4.5 stars.
The Green Man has two main dining areas and two bars, which can accommodate up to 100 covers, as well as a separate attached function room with its own bar. It also has external dining space and retains many of its traditional characteristics and period features.
Mark Loveday, Business Agent at Christie & Co’s Reading office commented, “It’s not often that a pub or a restaurant comes to the market with an achievement like this demonstrating an extremely high reputation in both the local area as well as further afield.
“This is therefore a great opportunity for an experienced operator or first-time purchaser to acquire a substantial freehold property with a well-established and successful business, with scope to develop it further.
“Post-Brexit, the market in the south east of England is picking up for licensed properties as confidence increases and public spending continues at a rate largely unharmed by the decision to leave the EU.
“This area of Bedfordshire has always proven popular with people looking to own a pub-restaurant business and following its recent recognition, we expect a surge of interest from potential buyers.”
