Holland Park’s beloved pub The Mitre, is ready to reopen its doors following a three quarter of a million-pound makeover. The Mitre is set to re-open tomorrow (7th October), following a five-week refurbishment project. The well-loved venue has undergone incredible enhancements including new signage, fresh timber, stylish new furniture, and a stunning fireplace – which all pay homage to the site’s historical roots.
Situated on leafy Holland Park Avenue, the super-premium Gastropub once renowned for its speciality cuts, signature dishes, and fresh seafood, has welcomed back its original Head Chef Pat Lynch. The food is exceptional, honest and British, with the global influences Pat has gathered throughout his career littered throughout his menu.
One of the headline dishes is the Mitre original braised rabbit pappardelle (nostalgia city for those who remember the Mitre of old) with truffle, wild mushrooms and shaved parmesan, but not to be missed are Pat’s specially selected cuts of Scottish beef – from none other than renowned butcher John Gilmour – which he expertly grills on his Japanese-style Robata, and you can mix and match sides and sauces to your heart’s content; the cep & truffle sauce is to die for.
The brand-new menus include a sensational food selection including mouth-watering Sunday Roasts and contemporary seafood dishes. The assortment of starters are top notch with the likes of Oxtail tartalette with peas & chorizo, Sticky Char sui pork crumpet complimented by Enoki mushrooms, chilli & ginger andCitrus cured salmon tartare on the menu – to name just a few.
There is a great selection of main courses too. From the Barnsley lamb chop with baby potatoes, peas a la Francaise & salsa Verde and Venison burger topped with maple bacon, Worcestershire onions, smoked cheese, and jalapeno mayo to the Chipotle glazed octopus served up with butter beans & lemon puree, Black garlic aioli and Grilled tenderstem broccoli, chickpea nduja, coconut yoghurt, dukkah & date molasses – there really is something for everyone!
The food in the restaurant is timeless, whilst the brand-new bar is the perfect spot for an exceptional pint and a light bite to eat – guests are guaranteed to have a premium pub experience.
