A new study has revealed the top 10 cities that love ordering, visiting, and eating at pizza parlours!
The study, conducted by online casino Luck.com, analysed data on the number of branded chain pizza restaurants in a city, compared to the number of pizza related search terms on the internet for these cities, with the higher search terms determining the top pizza cities in the UK.
The city of most pizza lovers is Windsor, with a total of 155 pizza branches in the city and a total average of 2791 searches per month, per 100,000 people, for pizza related terms. Windsor offers a total of 1 Dominos stores, 1 Pizza Huts, 1 Pizza Express, 1 Zizzi, and 1 Franco Manca, with a search of 1239 per month for the popular pizza chain Dominos. The rest of the restaurants available in the city also offer pizza and considered to be independent restaurants. So, it seems if you turn a corner, you’ll have a pizza joint available for your needs!
After that, taking the place of the second most pizza loving city is Canterbury. It may be a small city, but it has 6 chain pizzerias overall: 2 Pizza Huts, 1 Dominos, 1 Pizza Express’, 1 Zizzi and 1 Franco Manca. On an average of 100,000 people per month, 3102 pizza specific terms are searched in the city from famous brands like Dominos to Pizza Hut, and the search term ‘pizza near me’. Perfect if you’re looking for a quick order of pizza! Canterbury gets an overall pizza passion score of 59.0.
Coming in next is the city of Leeds which hosts 309 pizza places and specially 35 chain pizzerias: 9 Pizza Huts, 12 Dominos, 2 Papa John’s, 6 Pizza Express, 2 Zizzi’s, 1 Franco Manca and 1 Bella Italia. On an average of 100,000 people per month, 2571 pizza specific terms are searched in the city from famous brands like Dominos to Pizza Hut. For every 100,000 people, 1513 people search for Dominos in a month – sounds about right for a student city! Its pizza passion score is 52.1.
Coming in fourth is Liverpool with 260 pizza restaurants with 28 of them being chain/take-away restaurants – clearly the demand for pizza is there” There are 12 Dominos, 7 Pizza Huts, 3 Pizza Express, 2 Zizzi’s, 1 Bella Italia and 3 Rudy’s. On an average of 100,000 people, 611 people search for pizza related terms per month which is a lot smaller than other cities. However, for every 100,000 it offers 26 independent pizza restaurants, indicating a desire for more unique pizza options! As a well-known student city, the number of takeaway pizza restaurants caters to the budget and lifestyle of the environment. Its pizza loving score is 37.3.
In fifth place is Brighton, the home of beaches and apparently pizza! Despite having only 14 chain pizzerias, it has a monthly search of 3731 relating to pizza with its highest search being Dominos at 2292, which takes up a third of the monthly searches as shown in the table. It does however have approximately 19 boutique pizzerias, indicating to its desire for diverse pizza options. It has a score of 35.0 for its passion for pizza.
Surprisingly, both Belfast and Manchester come in sixth and seventh as a pizza loving city. Other notable cities are Bristol and Cardiff with the same scores of 31.3.
Last on the list is London! With it being the capital city, it hosts 295 pizza shops with 1414 monthly searches based on 100,000 people, with the intent to order. However, in comparison to its population and average searches per month, it fails in comparison to cities like Windsor and Canterbury. It’s pizza loving score is 29.1 out of 100.
A spokesperson for Luck.com has said of the study “it’s a pleasant surprise that Windsor is to be the most ‘pizza loving’ city in the UK, however it’s also not surprising that the other top places are very youthful student based cities with a lot of restaurants and take-aways.”
