Grosvenor has announced the signing of South East Asian bar and brasserie, Mamasan, at Liverpool ONE. The premium concept, which focuses on elevated dining, drinks and music, has signed for a 6,875 sq ft space. It will add to the distinctive experiences and inspired international flavours on offer at the city-centre destination.
Founded by Brad Stevens, the creator of culinary concepts Bar Soba (1999) and Pizza Punks (2016), Mamasan’s launch at Liverpool ONE will mark the brand’s second opening. In line with the Glasgow site that opened in 2020, the Mamasan bar and brasserie at Liverpool ONE will provide flavourful, punchy South East Asian inspired cuisine and cocktails, prepared fresh to order and elevated with the finest local produce from Britain’s land, farms and sea.
Mamasan’s latest restaurant, due to be unveiled once national lockdown restrictions are eased, will see a complete refit of the expansive unit into a sophisticated brasserie-style setting, designed to accommodate up to 200 covers. Mamasan will also take advantage of the site’s mezzanine floor and panoramic roof terrace to seamlessly combine outdoor and indoor dining and bar capabilities, while installing a high calibre sound system to further enhance the experience for visitors.
Alison Clegg, Managing Director, Asset Management at Grosvenor Britain & Ireland commented: “We know Liverpool ONE’s consumers want a higher-end, multi-dimensional dining offer, where they can enjoy a range of experiences that cannot be found elsewhere. The signing of Mamasan fits the bill and also demonstrates that, despite the challenging circumstances for the sector, Grosvenor is able to attract and support growing operators.”
The building blocks of the Mamasan menu are freshness and authenticity, with all core elements of each dish made from scratch daily, from the curry pastes, to the noodles and coconut cream. Complementing Mamasan’s culinary menu is an extensive drinks selection, which includes fine wines, craft beers, and inventive cocktails that are custom created by dedicated mixologists using premium spirits.
Brad Stevens, Founder of Mamasan, added: “With nationally-established names such as Bar Soba and Pizza Punks already under my belt, I am looking forward to now turning my attention to expanding the unique Mamasan concept. The gap in the market for this kind of experiential dining in Liverpool, combined with the discovery of this attractive and versatile space at Liverpool ONE, made this an opportunity too good to pass up. It’s been great to have Grosvenor’s support in adapting and preparing Mamasan’s concept for Liverpool ONE, and we can’t wait to open and deliver the best in elevated South East Asian inspired dining.”
The signing of Mamasan’s debut site in the city coincides with major restaurants Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Zizzi both re-committing to Liverpool ONE following administration periods.
The announcement also follows a series of significant experiential leasing at Liverpool ONE, including the signing of premium golf simulation concept, On The Green, at The Terrace, and the launch of an exclusive drink pop-up on Peter’s Lane, in partnership with creative hospitality operator The Bitter Twisted Drinks Company.
Metis and Savills acted for Liverpool ONE. Pudney Shuttleworth represented Mamasan.
