The Jolly Hog is doubling down on their mission to give back, with plans to expand Jolly Good Deeds initiatives and support even more local families in 2025.
The Jolly Hog, the award-winning Bristol-based sausage company, is set to bring festive cheer to Southmead Hospital staff and local families in need with its biggest-ever Jolly Good Deeds initiative on Friday, 6th December 2024.
Supporting Southmead Hospital
The Jolly Hog team will be out in force supporting Southmead Hospital this Friday 6th December. Led by co-founder brothers Olly, Josh, and Max Kohn – they will be returning to give staff a delicious Christmas Hog Roast Bap feast as a thank you for all they do for the local Bristol community. Serving from 6am so shift workers don’t miss out, they expect to serve a whopping 1,500 meals to Bristol’s healthcare heroes across all hospital staff.
This latest visit marks the fifth consecutive year of The Jolly Hog team supporting Southmead Hospital at Christmas, a tradition they began during the pandemic in 2020, resulting in them giving away 50,000 meals to NHS staff over the course of a year.
Christmas food box donations
On the same day, The Jolly Hog team will also be delivering 300 hand-packed Christmas food boxes to local families in need. Each box, carefully prepared by the Jolly Hog’s team, will feature six Jolly Hog products, including seasonal favourites such as Pigs in Blankets and the world’s first Pigs in Blankets Cookbook to help families have a hearty meal this Christmas.
The initiatives reflect The Jolly Hog’s commitment to giving back, as part of their wider pledge to donate 2% of annual turnover and volunteer 2% of their workforce time to community efforts annually.
Since February 2024, The Jolly Hog has distributed 1,200 food boxes through monthly hand-deliveries to families across Bristol, part of the brand’s mission to provide personal and dignified support to the community.
The Jolly Good Deeds days are a highlight for the co-founding brothers with Olly Kohn noting the importance of showing their appreciation not just at Christmas, but as part of their on-going initiatives throughout the year, saying: “Jolly Good Deeds is our way of giving back to the community that’s supported us from the beginning. It continues to be a privilege to return to Southmead Hospital and bring some festive cheer to the incredible staff who work so tirelessly. We’ll all be there on the day, serving up hot meals and saying a big thank you on behalf of the local community.
We also love being able to deliver boxes to families across Bristol as a way to support them and provide moments of joy over tasty food during the festive season. It is these moments which remind us why we started Jolly Good Deeds, and we’re passionate about growing this initiative even further in 2025.”
