Situated on the corner of Chancery Lane, The Last Judgment is a magnificent new establishment, taking the drinking and dining experience to a new level. Previously known as The Knights Templar Wetherspoons, Northern-based Berkeley Inns group acquired the venue and has recently relaunched it as The Last Judgment.
Nestled in the heart of London in the historic Union Bank headquarters, The Last Judgment is a pub unlike any other in the city. Retaining all the grandeur of its historic past, the venue boasts towering ceilings adorned with intricate architectural details, ornate decorations and gigantic pillars reaching from floor to ceiling.
The offerings of ‘Steak and Sole’ can be enjoyed in the buzz of the colossal bar, but for a more intimate experience head up to the mezzanine and tuck yourself away in one of its charming nooks and crannies, perfect for romantic meals or business meetings.
The pub elevates the London pub and dining experience with its elegant ‘Steak & Sole’ menu’. Forgoing the traditionally large menu of its Wetherspoons predecessor, The Last Judgment has
instead prioritised quality over quantity serving 28 day dry-aged grass-fed beef steaks and sustainably, freshly caught Cornish day boat sole fillets for a more than reasonable price (£12 for
both!) with delicious sides including a ‘Blooming Onion’, Mac & Cheese and ‘Filthy Fries’.
On his decision to evolve the Berkeley Inns group into the South of England, CEO Howard Thacker comments: ‘The Last Judgment occupies one of the most beautiful buildings in London, offering us an almost unique canvas to create a spectacular pub in a fabulous area steeped in history and close to The Royal courts, leading universities, and a plethora of first-class
businesses/partnerships/Chambers.’
Whether you’re stopping for a quick pint or settling in for the evening, The Last Judgment promises an unforgettable experience for those seeking a taste of both luxury and history in the heart of London’s bustling social scene. As Thacker comments, ‘We offer fabulous, well-presented food and a comprehensive beer, wine and cocktail menu way beyond your regular boozer. We must do this at the same time as providing great value, especially in times like this when many people are ‘feeling the pinch’.’
