Balgonie Castle the popular wedding venue in Fife was featured in TV series Outlander in 2014 and have recently found themselves in the centre of a viral newspiece.
The venue may have found themselves in a spot of hot water after the manager of the venue went on a Facebook rant, cursing out curious brides to be and cursing her customers as ‘bridezillas’ after brides questioned the prices of meals and payment of bills at the venue on a group on Facebook.
The Facebook group in question is ‘Blushing Brides Scotland’ and the problem started after a would be customer asked for advice from fellow future brides. The customer declined to name the venue when asked as she didn’t want to cause any issues, but the venue manager Kelly Morris outed the venue as she started an aggressive string of comments in which she divulged personal information about the original commenter wedding, guest details and bill details. Kelly went on to threaten the customer with legal action, stating she had sent print screens to her solicitor.
Kelly Morris later announced that the ancient medieval property would no longer host wedding events due to ‘the hate campaign’ lead against her and the venue.
Henia Roy started the comment in a group on Facebook for brides to be, querying whether it was usual to be asked to pay for her wedding meal 3 months prior to the event. She refused to answer the question of which venue the wedding was booked for so not to name and shame Balgonie Castle.
Kelly Morris then interjected with being ‘sick to death’ of complaints about the companies terms and conditions and went on to out the venue as being the one the Henia Roy was discussing.
Kelly went on to publicly post details of the brides wedding, with discussion of her contract, bill, guests and payment schedule without the brides consent. Brides to be, went onto bash her comments and behaviour as unprofessional and have encouraged future brides to be to boycott the venue. Starting the hashtag #BoycottBalgonie. Printscreens of the conversation have been posted on Facebook and have been shared in excess of 12,000 times.
A statement from the Balgonie Castle website states that they will stop taking wedding meal bookings in future.
