The Monaco based Hotel company The Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel and Resort have announced that they
have been working towards sustainable development in the area. The Company has announced their
new motto which is ‘Keep Calm and Act Green’, supposedly as an adaptation of the Post Office World
War II slogan ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’. The Hotel company has been working since 2013 in order to try
and be a sustainable as possible with their development and has established a group of volunteers who
work as a committee in order to manage and activate a number of different activities that can promote
sustainability during a weekly meeting. This committee is called the Bat Be Green team and was first
established in October 2013.
The Bay Be Green team and is made up of fifteen hotel members who use the Green Globe Standard
that has been set out for Sustainable Tourism in order to guide the sustainable plans they put in to
action at the Monte-Carlo Bay & Hotel. The Hotel has been awarded with Green Globe certification
every year since 2014, by carrying out recycling through a number of different schemes including the Les
Bouchons d’amour, a programme that works to promote recycling in order to help disabled persons.
The Hotel also works within the local community in order to promote sustainability. The Monte-Carlo
Bay Hotel & Resort has formed partnerships with AMAPEI who has employed a number of disabled
adults to carry out a number of more basic tasks. The Hotel is also involved in the Monacology festival
which takes place every year and is a week-long awareness campaign that focuses on improving the
environmental awareness of those in Monaco. The Hotel has proudly stated that they have trained more
than 230 of their staff members in a number of different sustainable development topics.
