Welsh premium water brand expands product portfolio and geographic reach with strategic acquisitions
Ty Nant, the the Welsh premium water company, has acquired Fonthill Spring Water and Decantae Mineral Water from Primo Water Corporation, marking a significant step in its growth strategy. These acquisitions come shortly after Ty Nant’s purchase of Llanllyr Source, a premium Welsh water and mixer brand, at the end of 2023.
Primo Water Corporation, a U.S.-based beverage giant, facilitated the transfer, underscoring the strategic importance of these deals for Ty Nant. The company has been recognized as the fastest-growing bottled water brand in the UK by the Alantra Fast 50 rankings and is ranked fourth overall among food and beverage companies. Ty Nant’s growth trajectory is notable for combining profitability with the highest average price per litre among UK mineral and spring water brands.
The acquisitions are set to broaden Ty Nant’s product range and strengthen its presence in the premium water market. Decantae Mineral Water, sourced from Snowdonia’s foothills, brings innovative packaging options such as cuplets for travel and healthcare markets. This complements Ty Nant’s existing offerings in glass and PET bottles, expanding its appeal to a wider customer base.
Fonthill Spring Water, drawn from the historic Fonthill Bishop Estate in Wiltshire, adds another iconic British water source to Ty Nant’s portfolio. The move also introduces Ty Nant to the water cooler market, with 15-litre bottles targeting commercial, educational, and healthcare sectors. This diversification aligns with the company’s strategy to meet demand across multiple segments while maintaining a focus on quality and sustainability.
Raminder Sidhu, Chairman of Ty Nant, emphasized the acquisitions’ role in enhancing the company’s vision. “Our commitment to sustainability, innovation, and customer service aligns seamlessly with the ethos of Decantae and Fonthill. These acquisitions represent a pivotal step in growing our super-premium beverage portfolio while maintaining a strong focus on provenance and sustainability.”
Looking ahead to 2025, Ty Nant plans to continue its expansion with innovations across its product lines. These include the introduction of aluminium bottles and cans, a refreshed design for Llanllyr Source, and new flavors from Kings Hill, its small-batch gin distillery in Edinburgh. The company also aims to enter 10 new export markets, further solidifying its position as a key player in the premium beverage industry.
