The European Union has unveiled its “Garden of Europe” campaign, which seeks to expand the market presence and raise consumer awareness of European agri-food products both at home and abroad.
Set to run until 2027, the campaign highlights the EU’s dedication to ensuring food safety and authenticity, providing consumers with premium-quality products that meet the highest standards globally.
The focus of the campaign is on the quality and safety of European kiwis from Greece and apples from Poland, particularly in markets like Indonesia, India, and others, with the goal of increasing exports and emphasising the fruits’ exceptional safety, quality, and nutritional benefits.
The EU is widely recognised for its rigorous standards in the agri-food sector, demonstrated by the strict safety and quality protocols applied to the production of kiwis and apples.
Both EU apples and kiwis undergo certification through several quality assurance programmes, covering food safety, environmental sustainability, and worker welfare, ensuring that all stages of production adhere to strict guidelines.
Advanced traceability systems are in place to follow the journey of apples and kiwis from the farm to the consumer’s table, ensuring full transparency and accountability in the supply chain.
Independent bodies regularly conduct inspections and audits, ensuring that all safety and quality standards are consistently met, from cultivation through to packaging and distribution.
With this commitment to high standards, the EU guarantees that its apples and kiwis are both safe and authentic.
Key beneficiaries of the ‘Garden of Europe’ campaign include The Agricultural Cooperative of Neapoli Agrinio and the Association of Polish Fruit and Vegetables Distributors.
