2023 AEW: Worlds End Preview
In the main event, MJF defends the AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe. For several weeks, MJF has been tormented by a masked figure known as ‘The Devil’.
On the go-home Dynamite edition, MJF lost the ROH World Tag Team Championships to The Devil’s Men after Samoa Joe didn’t show up to the ring due to injury, which was a plan as Joe worked with The Devil to fake his injury. Samoa then hit MJF with multiple chair shots to close Dynamite, gaining the upper hand in Worlds End.
The Championship Final of the AEW Continental Classic is also scheduled on the same night. After weeks of pool play, Jon Moxley defeated Swerve Strickland and Jay White to win the Gold League, while Eddie Kingston defeated Bryan Danielson and took home the Blue League.
Jon Moxley and Kingston are now set to face off today to determine the first-ever winner of the AEW Continental Classic, as mentioned above. The winner will be a Triple Crown Champion, which consists of the ROH World Championship, the NJPW Strong Openweight Championship, and the inaugural AEW Continental Championship.
In other fights, Christian Cage takes on Adam Copeland for the AEW TNT Title, Julia Hart and Abadon go face to face for the TBS Title, Miro faces Andrade El Idolo, Swerve Strickland finally goes head-to-head with Keith Lee, while Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale clash in the Battle of Long Island during the Zero-Hour Show.
Other worth-mentioning fights include Hook and Wheeler Yuta, as the former defends the FTW Title. Furthermore, the event also features a tag team match with Sammy Guevara, Chris Jericho, Sting, and Darby Allin, taking on Ricky Starks, Big Bill, Will Hobbs, and Konosuke Takeshita.
