Domino’s, the nation’s experts in piping hot pizza delivery, is stepping up to the plate by offering a removal service for hungry home movers on Friday 30th August – the busiest moving day of the year*.
Domino’s new ‘Home Movers’ service has been announced after research revealed half of Brits (50%) choose takeaway pizza as their first meal when moving into their new home – clearly the perfect sharing food to enjoy when plates and cutlery are packed away in boxes.
Being experts in delivering from A-Z quickly and safely, Domino’s Home Movers is the ultimate way to show up to your new neighbourhood in style, with your belongings moved in and dinner plans covered. Domino’s will offer a home removal service, swapping pizza boxes for packing boxes for one day only this August.
Research also found the average home mover will lift around 32 boxes and carry approximately 466kg of belongings during the experience. Lifting isn’t the only challenge though, as over 19 flights of stairs are climbed during a house move with a whopping 9,440 steps taken in total – Brits are certainly working up an appetite!
The strenuous move means that it takes the average home mover takes eight days to recover due to the packing, unpacking, lifting and countless steps. However, all that hard work does come with some perks, as the first meal at a new home has been claimed as the most rewarding part when it comes to moving home according to 33% of movers, even if it does mean eating it sat on the floor.
Although more than half (56%) of movers state moving home is exciting, many find it hard work, with over a third (34%) admitting they find the official move day the toughest day of the process and 30% dread the entire process. Move day also sees four boxes on average dropped, up to three rest breaks (40%) and five caffeine breaks (64%). To add to the stress, movers were found to lock themselves out of their new – or old – place five times during the process. As well as this, as many as four items of furniture brought from the old home are found not to fit inside the new one.
Nearly 4 in 10 (38%) of movers have openly stated they’d struggle to move home if they had to do it alone, which is why three in five movers (62%) prefer to use a removal company – with price, professionalism and a friendly service ranking as the top three things people look for.
Melanie Howe, Home Moving Mastermind at Domino’s, said: “August is the month for home movers and the effort which goes into moving house can be underestimated – which is why we’re here to lend a helping hand as the UK’s trusted delivery experts.”
“It’s no surprise pizza has been voted the go to meal option after a day of physical activity. As the experts in delivering pizzas across the nation in an average of 24 minutes, we know a thing or two about deliveries and we’re now taking the stress out of moving with our latest trial service, while also taking care of dinner plans too – you can’t beat it!”
