Prepare to be dazzled by a unique offering at auction – an E-Type Jaguar adorned with Swarovski crystals, set to go under the hammer for a mere £15,000.
This sparkling gem of a classic sports car is a miniature marvel that mirrors its full-sized counterpart in exquisite detail. Crafting this eye-catching masterpiece was no small feat, taking a painstaking 300 hours spread over two months to complete.
However, there’s a twist – this dazzling beauty is half the size of the real deal and is designed as a children’s toy. These remarkable creations come in the form of pedal cars, some equipped with an electric battery while others boast a petrol engine to power them.
Regrettably, the petrol-powered version can only reach a top speed of 15mph, a far cry from the 153mph capabilities of the full-sized E-Type. Nevertheless, what it lacks in speed, it more than compensates for with glamour, featuring an astounding 100,000 Swarovski Xirus cut crystals adorning its bodywork.
This exquisite creation is set to be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s on 4 November. A spokesperson for Sotheby’s remarked, “Fun doesn’t always have to be full-sized. Consider small and sparkly like this Crystal E-Type Children’s Car available in our London auction.”
The ‘Halfscale Cars Crystal E-Type Children’s Car’ is estimated to fetch a price between £12,000 and £15,000. Halfscale Cars, the creators of these miniature marvels, are headquartered in Winchester, Hampshire.
A spokesperson from Halfscale Cars explained, “Adorned in over 100,000 hand-applied Swarovski Xirius cut crystals, each individual car takes our dedicated team approximately two months to crystalize alone. The car’s design pays homage to the Series 1 model, featuring faired-in covered headlights, slim bumpers, and a small oval front grille. The cabin is adorned in plush velour suede, boasting a bench-style seat and diamond-quilted panels on either side of the carpet on the floor. Notably, it retains functional headlights and horns.”
