Alex’s Bakery at Great Northern Warehouse, an independent family-run bakery serving freshly prepared baked goods, celebrates its tenth birthday on Tuesday March 12th – and to celebrate is hosting a party with free cupcakes.

Founded in 2014 by Alexandra Koche Ce Furlan and Rogerio Furlan, originally from Brazil, the couple moved to Manchester in 2008 where Alex began baking as a hobby, soon her love for the craft became the husband-and-wife duo business it is today.
Starting off as a small cupcake stand in the artisan markets, soon followed a three-year concession in Debenhams, before moving to the full-sized bakery and shop on Deansgate at Great Northern Warehouse.
Every sweet treat sold at the shop is baked daily in-house by Alex and Rogerio’s talented team, everything from indulgent brownies to multi-tiered celebration cakes.
Alex Koche Ce Furlan, owner of Alex’s Bakery said: “We are delighted to have reached this milestone in what are such difficult times for the hospitality industry. I’ve built this business from nothing, and that feels like such a huge achievement. I can’t wait to celebrate with the people of Manchester’.
“The past ten years have been a tricky time for us due to things like the rising cost of living, less footfall and Covid, and we wouldn’t have been able to survive without the support of our lovely customers, staff, and Manchester-based friends. We’re so grateful for everyone who’s played a part in keeping Alex’s alive and feel so proud and lucky to be part of such an amazing local community’.
Since opening its door ten years ago, Alex’s Bakery, has since gone on to become one of the most recognisable and well-loved bakeries in Manchester city centre.
Alex’s Bakery is also running a series of exciting giveaways across their Instagram page to celebrate 10 years – @alexsbakery
