While Tuscan chicken might not be an authentic Italian dish, it has certainly become a beloved mainstay in many households.
Authentic Tuscan cuisine often features hearty and rustic dishes such as ribollita, a thick vegetable and bread soup and bistecca alla Fiorentina, a Florentine-style steak typically grilled and served rare.
However, it’s Tuscan chicken that has captured widespread attention, Google searches for ‘creamy Tuscan chicken’ have spiked over 5,000% in the past 30 days in Ireland. The dish has also gained massive popularity on TikTok, with 112.1M featuring Tuscan chicken on the platform.
Hannah Duxbury, Head of Culinary from recipe box delivery provider, HelloFresh Ireland, comments:
“Although Tuscan chicken is not a traditional Tuscan dish, it has become widely recognised as being associated with the region. Regardless, there’s a reason it has become so popular—it’s delicious and easy to prepare.”
She adds, “The dish works well because it combines rich, creamy flavours with the freshness of tomatoes and spinach, making it both comforting and nutritious. Its versatility allows it to be paired with pasta, rice, or even crusty bread, making it a favourite for many families.”
There’s been millions of Tuscan chicken posts on TikTok but none of them have been more popular than this Creamy Tuscan Chicken recipe by user @biteswithbecs which has 22.4M views in total.
In the recipe, she never revealed what she serves her dish with.
Hannah states “To complete your summer party menu, consider pairing it with a light and refreshing summer salad, garlic butter roasted potatoes, and a crisp white wine or homemade garlic bread.”
Alternatively, for a charming Irish twist on this viral dish, Hannah suggests serving your Tuscan chicken with champ, a beloved Irish side made from mashed potatoes mixed with scallions, butter, and milk. She says, “Its creamy texture and subtle onion flavour are the perfect complement to the rich and savoury Tuscan chicken.”
