Sticks’n’Sushi is delighted to announce the launch of its newest UK restaurant in Richmond, London, this spring. Opening Sunday 5 May, Sticks’n’Sushi will be a welcome addition to Richmond’s popular high street and bustling community with its unique combination of sushi and yakitori-sticks.
Guests at the new Richmond restaurant will receive a warm irasshaimase before sitting down to enjoy the expertly crafted dishes using only the highest-quality ingredients. Sticks’n’Sushi is the sushi restaurant perfect for even those who don’t eat fish, with the menu catering for all tastes including plant-based options such as the Kinoko Katzu, Eringi, Green Gate and the Kyoto Non Stop, as well as the selection of irresistible dessert offerings. The extensive Kampai menu includes signature house cocktails, wine, beer, spirits and sake. As with all Sticks’n’Sushi restaurants, Richmond will embody the traditional Japanese concept of Omotenashi, which is to wholeheartedly look after each and every guest.
Andreas Karlsson, Sticks’n’Sushi Group CEO, comments: “We’re so excited to bring our newest restaurant to Richmond, building our presence in South-West London and welcoming a new team to the Sticks’n’Sushi family. We have long admired this historic town, since our first restaurant in Wimbledon in 2012, we are delighted to open in such an iconic building. Sticks’n’Sushi Richmond will offer the perfect spot for locals and visitors to the area as well as gatherings big and small.”
Sticks’n’Sushi Richmond has been designed by Berlin-based architects Diener & Diener to ensure guests feel at home in their surroundings. The restaurant’s design incorporates nods to its location, while the interior takes inspiration from Richmond’s tight-knit and lively community. Located on the corner of George Street and King Street, the site was formally built as a Dickins and Jones department store in 1968, and more recently housed the retailer House of Fraser until 2020, which ended a long and proud chapter in Richmond’s retail history. When guests enter, they will meet the space in its centre on a diagonal walkway, which divides the restaurant in two. The stunning layout encourages guests to flow through the space like the nearby River Thames, while the design captures a perfect balance of Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian elegance. Colours are muted and soft, with clay greys and rusty reds dividing the restaurant in two horizontal halves
and providing a warm, relaxing atmosphere in modern, sleek surroundings.
Originating in Copenhagen, Sticks’n’Sushi is one of Denmark’s longest-established and most loved restaurant groups. Founded by half-Danish, half-Japanese brothers Jens and Kim Rahbek and Thor Andersen, today, the group consists of 27 restaurants across Copenhagen, Berlin and the UK.
In line with the new opening on Sunday 5 May, Sticks’n’Sushi will be celebrating Japanese Children’s Day ‘Kodomo no Hi’ by offering complimentary bento boxes for kids (with a paying adult) across all restaurants. Honouring its heritage and encouraging families to pray for the health and happiness of their children giving back to loyal, returning and new customers.
Richmond will be the 13 UK restaurant and promises to bring Sticks’n’Sushi’s unique flavours and dining experience to a new neighbourhood.
