Rob Star said: “We are super excited to open another 4 state of the art karaoke rooms in our pub in Bethnal Green, meaning we now have 17 rooms across all of our Electric Star pubs. Star of Bethnal Green was the first pub I opened, so it has a special place in my heart. It’s continually evolving and we’re confident that the addition of these rooms will see it remain as one of the go-to places in E2. To celebrate this, we are offering customers karaoke sessions for just £1 when we open in October.”
The Star Of Bethnal Green was the first Electric Star pub to be opened in April 2008. It was originally an old gig venue called The Pleasure Unit, where the likes of The Libertines used to regularly play. The live music tradition is still going strong with the pub hosting bands such as Metronomy, Bombay Bicycle Club and Cage the Elephant.
The first karaoke room was built in 2010, so karaoke has been on the line up for over 10 years, with a regular karaoke night called Karaokey Cokey. The pub has a Funktion one sound system and is famous for its regular DJ nights on Fridays and Saturdays. As well as its weekly Tuesday night quiz. It also holds secret midweek pop-up pub raves with the likes of Idris Elba, Skream, Soulclap and most recently Bellaire playing to a packed out venue.
Food is provided by a rotating selection of street food traders with Patty and Pickle currently cooking up amazing Smashed Burgers.
Electric Star have opened 3 new venues since the pandemic and the company is heading for a record year of trading in 2024, due in no small part to their ability to provide customers with a great experience throughout the week and keep them wanting more.
