Cult-following pizza shop Vincenzo’s has teamed up with Kick Foods, renowned for its range of cooking pastes, blends, and oils to launch Vincenzo’s Pizzaiolo’s Peperoncino, a premium Italian chilli oil.
Designed to drizzle on anything from paninis, to pasta, to pizza of course, a jar of Vincenzo’s Pizzaiolo’s Peperoncino (100g) is available on DELLI, eatkickfoods.com and instore or online at Vincenzo’s.
A fiery collaboration born in Bushey (Hertfordshire) via Salerno, Italy, the Pizzaiolo’s Peperoncino has an intense umami heat to it and rich chilli notes, without being uncomfortably spicy! Made with ruby red chillis from Salerno, they’re then suspended in a luxurious blended olive oil – Sunflower oil 90% and Extra Virgin Olive Oil 10%.
Tom Vincent started Vincenzo’s pizza in lockdown out of a pub kitchen, serving up 12 and 18 inch pizzas. Now the neighbourhood pizzeria just north of London (Bushey, Hertfordshire) attracts pizza fanatics from all over the world, inspired by the old coal oven pizza from the east coast of America. Kick Foods’ founders, Nihal, Anton, and Veeraj, grew up in Bushey, Hertfordshire and are pizza fanatics. With Vincenzo’s as their neighbour, partnering with Tom (founder of Vincenzo’s) was a natural fit.
This peperoncino is Italian, crafted to enhance the pizza experience. It can be drizzled generously onto pizza for an intense fiery flavour hit, or mixed with olive oil or mayonnaise for a mellower chilli taste perfect for pizza crust dunking. It’s also ideal for adding a kick to pasta dishes, a jacket potato or even a Sunday roast.
Tom Vincent, Founder of Vincenzo’s stated:
“We wanted to make a chilli oil that packs a punch and keeps it old-school, so we tried chillies from Calabria, Salerno, and other spots in Southern Italy. We found the perfect heat and now I won’t eat pizza without it.”
Commenting on the launch, Nihal Haria-Shah, Co-founder of Kick Foods added:
“Vincenzo’s Pizza is notorious for making the best NY pies this side of the Brooklyn Bridge and together we’ve perfected a peperoncino, made to accompany every fold and bite! We want to see this Peperoncino everywhere! Wherever people eat pizza, they should be enjoying it with Vincenzo’s Pizzaiolo’s Peperoncino. Born and bred in Bushey we’re stoked to be teaming up with Tom and making this happen.”
The Kick team also experimented with the oil in East Asian-inspired rice dishes, where it adds a burst of heat and saltiness. Its versatility and taste make it a must-have ingredient in your kitchen, enhancing a wide range of dishes with its robust flavour and vibrant kick. Whether you’re creating a traditional Italian dish or trying something new, this Peperoncino will definitely elevate your cooking.
Future plans include launching the Kick x Vincenzo’s range in retail, convenience stores and restaurants.
