Woven, the trailblazing whisky maker reshaping industry norms, is thrilled to announce the opening of its first-ever satellite blending studio outside of Scotland. Located at 155 Hoxton Street, London—previously home to Superlyan—this new space marks a bold expansion for the brand and a key milestone in the ‘New World Whisky’ movement.
Opening its doors this week, Woven’s London Studio will be a centre for whisky experimentation, offering an exciting fusion of innovation, education, and interaction. By day, the studio will host trade masterclasses for bartenders and also act as a blending lab. By night, it will open up for a variety of events, including whisky tastings, a highball bar and intimate retail experiences.
A key highlight is the studio’s bespoke blending service, launching on 8th October. This service allows whisky enthusiasts to create a whisky tailored to their personal taste, complete with a customised label. “It’s more than just a studio,” says Woven’s Brand Ambassador, Lara Farrow. “It’s a creative playground for the whisky-curious, where people can explore new flavours and create something truly personal.”
Founded by three friends in 2021, Woven is known for challenging whisky-making traditions. The brand has embraced a ‘borderless’ philosophy, blending whiskies from across the globe to create exciting and diverse flavour experiences. In just a few short years, Woven’s contemporary approach has garnered widespread attention, including a spot on Drinks International’s ‘Most Admired Whiskies of the World’ list.
“We’re about discovering what’s possible in whisky, not just preserving tradition,” says Woven’s Co-Founder and Whisky Maker, Peter Allison. “Opening a studio in London gives us the creative freedom to push boundaries, especially with the exciting energy surrounding whisky in England.”
Woven’s new studio is nestled in the heart of Hoxton’s vibrant creative scene, a fitting location for a brand that thrives on pushing boundaries. This move aligns with the rise of whisky distilleries in England, positioning London as a key player in the global whisky landscape. The London Studio provides Woven with the creative freedom to explore and innovate, free from the strict regulations that govern whisky production in Scotland. While these rules are essential for maintaining the integrity of Scotch Whisky, they can limit experimentation, especially with whiskies from other regions. “All of our non-Scotch products have always been blended outside of Scotland, so we’ve not broken any laws yet,” says Co-Founder Peter Allison. “But the London studio offers us even more freedom, opening up new possibilities for collaboration with our partner distilleries south of the border.”
Community has always been central to Woven’s success. Their ‘open studio’ events in Leith’s Biscuit Factory have cultivated a loyal following of whisky enthusiasts and curious newcomers alike. Now, Woven aims to bring that same welcoming spirit to East London, creating a space where everyone—from whisky geeks to flavour explorers—feels at home.
Woven’s East London presence will include collaborations with top whisky bars such as The Gate (Glasgow) and Cut Your Wolf Loose (Brighton), as well as tasting events with international distilleries, including Thomson Whisky (New Zealand) and White Peak Distillery (Yorkshire). Each Friday, the studio will transform into a modern whisky Highball Bar, serving up a fresh take on whisky cocktails for locals and visitors alike.
“We want to build a community here, just as we did in Leith,” says Allison. “This is a space where whisky lovers and flavour explorers can come together, share ideas, and enjoy the diverse world of whisky.”
The Woven London Studio will open on the 13th September, and is located on 155 Hoxton Street, N1 6PJ.
