In a move which has baffled many, the recently named ‘most reputable fashion retailer’ in the UK according to RepTrak, ASOS, has started selling strap-on dinosaur tails.
The bizarre accoutrements are listed under the ‘festival accessories’ section of the website, and cost £25.
The retailer began promoting the ‘Tell Tails’ black dinosaur tail on Facebook as ‘too good to miss’, which caused confusion and intrigue among followers, and all the buzz has now caused the black tail to sell out.
However, ASOS are still selling several other exciting tail options, including the green ‘shinosaur’ dinosaur tail, the fun and flirty fox tail, the chic and stylish leopard tail, the classic black cat tail, and the edgy and mysterious wolf tail.
All the tails are of course faux fur; no foxes, leopard, cats, wolves or dinosaurs were harmed in the making of these accessories.
The tails are intended to be attached to the waist via a clip-on belt, although there has been some confusion as to how wearers would sit down, move through crowds, or go to the bathroom without causing havoc.
ASOS commented that “novelty is featuring more and more in our 20-something customers’ lives. They love humorous pieces that create snap-able moments for their social channels, and are also fun for festivals.
“It is always our priority to know what out customers are loving and ensure we have the right product for that moment. You’ll notice that the Dinosaur version [of the tails] has sold out.”
In a poll run by Metro, 66% of people said that they would be up for wearing a tail, although 31% said only for a themed party.
