SPAR, the leading international retail company and VolWest Group, the business conglomerate have announced that they have an ambitious plan that will see 50 more SPAR stores opening in Ukraine over the course of the next three years. The announcement has come after the official opening of the first SPAR in the country which occurred in Rivne, Western Ukraine. It is thought that by opening the Rivne store 20 new jobs have been created.
SPAR first launched in Ukraine in 2001 as the first supermarket opened under licence. From then on other independent retailers have carried on bringing the brand to local consumers in a number of cities across the country. At the end of 2016 it was thought that there was a total of 15 SPAR supermarkets in Ukraine.
VolWest is a wholesaler, retailer and investment group that intends on opening an additional 15 SPAR stores by the end of 2017. The company operates more than 200 NASH KRAJ supermarkets that are spread out across Ukraine, and at the minute is the third largest supermarket chain in the country with stores in 19 different regions. The wholesaler and investor has taken on board the dynamic range of SPAR formats available and the company is planning on opening a combination of neighbourhood convenience stores, supermarkets and hypermarkets that will be bespoke to the needs and requirement of the potential customers in that area.
The Rivne store is said to embody the values of SPAR and 90% of the products at the new store have been sourced from Ukrainian manufacturers and producers. The new Rivne store offers a wide variety of Private Label products which offers the consumer great value for money. The employees at the new store were all trained to use the retail technology used by SPAR in order to make sure that they adhered to SPAR International’s high standards of customer service.
