- Experts at Retirement Villages have used AI to predict how we will travel and socialise in 50 years’ time
- AI was used to predict methods of holiday travel and where we could be holidaying in 2073
- AI technology also predicted the rise in virtual remote holidays and social interactions
Retirement living experts at Retirement Villages have used AI to predict what the future of travel, holidays and social events will look like in the year 2073. AI was used to research trends and look at how we may live and travel in future, it was additionally used to mock-up imagery of how social, travel and events could look for us as the retired generation of 2073.
Here’s what AI predicts will be the future of travel and holidays for retired people:
- Virtual Travel to Moments in History
If you can’t take the time to physically travel or mobility issues restrict your options, travel in the future will offer virtual reality ways to see your favourite destinations remotely. Travellers will visit a destination in a set year and relive history remotely. - Virtual Social Events and Celebrations
VR will offer solutions to have digital guests at key life moments. Graduations, weddings and birthdays will be virtually screened by families with guests appearing via projection or avatar.
- Personal Memory Reenactment
We will potentially be able to revisit joyous moments in our long-experienced lives. Holidays could be recorded prior and projected using technology to allow people to relive their favourite family holidays for years to come.
- Real-Time Translation
AI-driven language translation could enable seamless communication with friends and family members who speak different languages. This will benefit all generations.
- Hyper-Fast Transportation
Assisting those who can’t travel for long periods, hypersonic travel will become the norm. This transport will drastically reduce travel times across the globe between continents. Supersonic planes or even next-generation transportation methods like hyperloop systems could make international travel even quicker.
- Space Travel
We won’t be restricted to just Earth in 2073 and space travelis expected to be much more viable to many people. Commercial space travel could become a reality soon, enabling adventurous travellers to journey beyond Earth’s atmosphere into space. - Virtual Cultural Experiences
Individuals could attend virtual museums, concerts, and art galleries, expanding their cultural experiences from the comfort of their homes. You may even be able to attend legendary concerts of past times. The future could be going back to cultural events like the Taylor Swift Eras tour of 2023, 50 years from now. - Immersive Virtual Stories
The phrase ‘getting lost in a book’ could take on a whole new meaning in the future, as we may be able to live out our favourite fictional novels. VR storytelling could allow people to immerse themselves in fictional worlds from literature.
Stewart Bailey, Managing Director at Virtual Viewing, a supplier of Retirement Villages comments: “I’d agree with the predicted advancements identified by AI. Technology will be significantly more advanced. Almost exclusively delivered via MR, if not cognitive implants. Over 65s will want to share experiences with a wide network of friends and family. Location and mobility should not be a hinderance in any way. We suspect there will be a high demand for entertainment services for families, especially grandchildren. Enriching the family bonds and support network will be expected.”
