Welcome Break, one of the UK’s leading motorway service operators, has launched its first click-and-collect ordering and payment service at Burger King at its South Mimms (M25) site ahead of a wider roll out across more brands and sites over the summer.
The new service will allow customers to browse the menu and pre-order meals and refreshments through the Welcome Break app, available on Apple and Google smart phone devices, and select their collection time before paying for their order. During pick-up, customers simply display the order number sent to their app and collect their meal.
The introduction of click-and-collect at the South Mimms site makes Welcome Break the first motorway service company in the UK to offer this digital ordering experience to customers. It will lead to a better customer journey, increased convenience, as well as improved health and safety for customers and teams, by reducing queues and making it easier to maintain social distancing.
The technology is being powered by QikServe’s Preoday platform.
Kash Ghedia, Chief Information Officer at Welcome Break, comments: “We are very excited to launch our new click-and-collect service at South Mimms. Our number one aim is to give our customers a safe place to stop, whilst providing a best in class hospitality service. We want our customers to have a seamless, stress-free experience when they visit and following a successful trial we look forward to rolling this service out across all our sites over the summer.”
Steve Hawkins, Director of Alliances at QikServe adds: “Motorway service areas supply a vital service for this country. Whether haulage drivers or consumers, they provide a safe place for thousands of people to take a break from their journey every day. Food and drink play a major role in those stops; we’re extremely proud that QikServe’s technology is helping Welcome Break make long distance journeys smoother, safer and more convenient for travellers.”
