The team behind Market, the beloved workspace in Peckham, proudly announces the opening of their new sister brand: Cornerhouse. This new space, located at 133a Rye Lane, marks the transformation of the ground floor into a vibrant café, bar, small food hall, and event space, launched this summer.
Cornerhouse aims to spotlight small local operators while providing the neighbourhood with a place to gather, eat, drink, work, and socialise right on Rye Lane. Throughout the week, the café and a diverse selection of food traders offer special working brunch and lunch menus, complemented by robust WiFi and bookable meeting spaces, catering to both their in-house workers and the wider working community. Evenings and weekends see a lineup of passionate chefs, bartenders, DJs, makers, traders, and collaborators bringing their own unique flair and creativity. Current traders include The Porch, Nativo, Greek Kitchen, Young Nola and Taco Taco.
Cornerhouse draws its inspiration from the historic Lyon’s Tea Rooms and Corner Houses, which were some of the building’s original occupants over a century ago. Traditionally, ‘corner houses’ were places where communities came together to share news, catch up with neighbours, or meet new people.
August events at Cornerhouse include a Carnival warm-up party with Mister S, a courtyard Seafood Boil with Young Nola, and weekly sessions featuring resident DJs such as Handson Family and Talia A Darling.
The Handson Family remarked, “We have always been looking to do something locally, having done things all over London. It’s just beautiful to do something on your doorstep.”
Whether you’re working in the area, connecting with others, treating family, or celebrating with friends, Cornerhouse offers a welcoming space for the Peckham community, open day and night.
