Anna Sebastian, Bar Manager of Artesian, has added an extra date to the Take Over series, with an all-female takeover on Tuesday 5th November, to positively highlight the talent and insight of leading women within the bar industry.
Throughout October, the Take Over series featured some of the world’s best bars and their bartenders, including The Clumsies and Manhattan Bar. Now adding an extra date to the bill, Bar Manager, Anna Sebastian, has invited industry peers who are excelling in a space traditonally perceived as a male-dominated.
“I think it is important especially now to recognise and celebrate women within the bar industry. Gone are the days when women only work as waitresses in bars, they are now the creative engines and leaders behind some of the world’s best bars. There has never been a better time to join this industry; the support network is phenomenal not just in London at bars like Artesian, but around the globe too.” ~ Anna Sebastian
From 7.30pm on Tuesday 5th November, the Artesian bar will shine a light on those at the top of their game, combining the resident Artesian team and female guest bartenders. On the cocktail list there will be a variety of classics such as Ada ‘Coley’ Coleman’s Hanky Panky, (the sweet Martini with bitter undertones created by the first female head bartender of the Savoy), alongside modern-day interpretations such as Gin Blossom by Julie Reiner and Old Cuban by Audrey Saunders – some of NYC’s finest bartenders.
The evening will be a chance for Anna and her peers to show the personalities behind the cocktails we enjoy. But most importantly to reinforce and celebrate the strong female community within the industry who are coming together to inspire and encourage more women to join one of hospitality’s most exciting and creative sectors.
