An influencer couple, Kaylee Killion, 28, and her fiancé, Cody Nelson, 30, have taken an unconventional approach to raise awareness about beach pollution. The couple, known for their adventurous travels and large social media following, recently visited Playa Bramadero in Puerto Rico, where they were dismayed by the amount of litter.
“We came across this beach on a drive and noticed how horribly littered it was,” said Kaylee, who boasts 530,000 followers across Instagram, @thenaughty_travellers.
Determined to make a difference, Kaylee and Cody spent hours cleaning the beach and decided to leverage their platform to raise funds for the cause. They filmed a video during their cleanup, aiming to raise £7,800 for Rescate Playas Borinquen, an organization dedicated to cleaning up beaches and spreading awareness about environmental pollution.
“We noticed how horribly littered the beach was, with no trash cans available and a lot of waste washed up from the ocean,” Kaylee explained. Inspired by environmental advocates like Leonardo DiCaprio, the couple hopes their efforts will encourage others to take action against pollution.
In a social media post, they highlighted their cleanup efforts and their commitment to donate 20% of the earnings from their video to the cause. “We wanted to use our platform to spread the word about the litter issue on public beaches and give back to a cause we deeply believe in,” Kaylee added.
Kaylee and Cody’s campaign has already gained traction, with their followers praising their dedication to environmental preservation. By combining their adventurous spirit with a meaningful cause, they hope to inspire others to join the fight against pollution. They believe that every effort counts in preserving the beauty and health of natural landscapes.
“We appreciate all the beauty and want to help in any way we can to preserve it,” Kaylee added. The couple’s innovative approach underscores their commitment to making a positive impact on the environment.
